Sandwiched between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Samoens ski resort has an impressive range of skiing and also has links to the renowned ski region of Le Grand Massif - one of the largest ski areas of the Haute Savoie. Samoens itself has 28 fantastic ski and snowboard runs at its disposal, with a focus on beginners and intermediates; altogether there are 134 runs in the region that cover 265kms of pisted terrain. Sixteen ski lifts include chair and draglifts, with an hourly capacity of 16,700 people. For alternative skiing, the Portes du Soleil ski circuit is only 30 minutes' drive away at Les Gets and offers another 650kms of superb runs, as well as some challenging off-piste. Chamonix-Mont Blanc is also nearby, to the south, offering more fantastic slopes. The ski season at Samoens runs from mid-December to late April.
